With all the pharmaceutical and medical interventions in the last 70 years, in 2020 the mortality rate from chronic diseases (mainly lifestyle diseases) has increased dramatically.

Top 10 causes of death in 1900:

  3. Diarrhea
  4. Heart Disease
  5. Liver disease
  6. Injuries
  7. Stroke
  8. Diphtheria
  9. Cancer
  10. Bronchitis

Top 10 causes of death in 2000:

  1. Heart Disease

  4. COPD – chronic lung disease
  5. Injuries
  6. Pneumonia or flu

The top 4 leading causes of diseases right now are:

Heart Disease – 31.4%

Cancer 23.3

Stroke 6.9%

Lung disease 4.7%

Diabetes 2.7%

This accounts of of all causes of deaths (70%!) in the U.S.

These are lifestyle diseases. I truly believe through consistent healthy lifestyle management we can come close to eliminating these lifestyle diseases and you can enjoy a longer quality of life.

So what changed in the last 100 years. There wasn’t just one thing. It was a combination of the industrial revolution bringing an abundance of processed foods, hydrogenated oils, chemicals, pesticides and refined sugars which in turn contributed to the obesity epidemic.

We are far less active. We have the 24/7 lifestyle of stress and “always being on,” and not living in balance. We have literally thousands of chemicals circulating through our environment.

The US spends the most amount of money in the industrialized world on health care, yet we are dead last when compared to other nations.

We have some of the best hospitals and physicians in the world, so why are we in the predicament we're in

Most of us are benefactors of conventional medicine in some way, from flu shots, vaccinations at birth, and to penicillin to ward off infections just to name a few. We are all grateful for this.

However…

If we are talking about chronic disease, heart disease, stroke and diabetes and even some cancers, lifestyle management can intervene from the prevention side. We can avoid the use of pharmaceuticals to most often mask the underlying causes of these dis-eases of he body that have come about due to poor lifestyle choices.

To live healthy we need to educate our kids and ourselves early on to do the basic fundamentals:

Moderate daily exercise

Mostly plant based nutrition

Sauna sessions or hot (warm) yoga and sweat a few times / week

Quality sleep (not just the total amount of hrs)?

We hear it all the time, “I would rather just enjoy my life now and eat and drink what I want,” but it’s hard to get that perspective to pay more attention when you're not living in it.

In the last century we've taken a turn for the worse and as you'll see from the links below that statistics don't lie
