The fountain of youth…is right in front of you. Just look in the mirror 🙂

The research will tell us that they are not 100% sure how all the human systems in the body actually work when it comes to staying strong, healthy, and disease-free.

What we can quantify is that a lack of exercise can take years off your life.

We’re not going to get too geeky into the science but there are a few things you should know about how to keep your insides running smoothly for the long road ahead.

There are several theories on why the body ages faster without exercise.

1. Cellular aging: Free radical damages protein and mitochondria. Mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of your cells that help convert oxygen into energy.

2. Oxidative stress: Oxidative stress is an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body, which can lead to cell and tissue damage. Oxidative stress occurs naturally and plays a role in the aging process. A large body of scientific evidence suggests that long-term oxidative stress contributes to the development in a range of chronic conditions. Such conditions include cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

The body’s cells produce free radicals during normal metabolic processes. However, cells also produce antioxidants that neutralize these free radicals. In general, the body is able to maintain a balance between antioxidants and free radicals.

Several factors contribute to oxidative stress and excess free radical production. These factors can include:

  • diet
  • lifestyle
  • certain conditions
  • environmental factors such as pollution and radiation

3. The loss of satellite cells: When we don’t exercise we lose satellite cells that the body produces to help repair and build muscle tissue. One of the most important things about exercise is the body’s ability to generate new satellite cells.

4. Outside stress: Stress is the silent killer of the human system. Exercise (to a certain amount) is positive stress that strengthens the body’s ability to handle the negative stress that we all deal with on a daily basis such as finances, family, work, just to name a few. There is a huge correlation of stress reduction with exercise.

Exercise goes way beyond the vanity of looking great in a bathing suit. Don’t get me wrong, we all want to look the best we can. However, increasing our health span and quality of life can make living more exciting and the motivation to keep moving well into our 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond.

Next time I’m going to show you something that will blow your mind when it comes to exercise and biologically making you younger. And this is well within reach for every single person reading this.
